Customer Review: from Riverdale, NY USA
The charm of this book is that it features "real people" - not simply supermodels. Photos and the arranged shots were the ideas of the photographer (Rankin), and also the subjects' own. Some of the "models" are in "artsy" roles and things - bathed in jelly, smeared with ketchup, etc. Nonetheless, all shots are witty, sensual, and provocative. A must have for the Nude library.

Strong Examples, inspiring, and well thought out. The book gives a nice historic summary. Overall, the book is much better than most "series" books. Good for beginners to figure drawing.

Customer Review: Leonard Cook from Fremont, CA USA
This book is beautiful. The reproduction quality is superb, with large images organized by photographer in alphabetical order, no nonsensical verse or smarmy text included. Michelle Olley's introduction and photographer bios are succinct and interesting. Credits/titles for the photos serve as the table of contents -- terrific idea. Oh, um, the pictures, yeah. They are the really beautiful component, of course. There are more than 150, and the emphasis is definitely EROTIC, with nothing from the cool, abstract world of the fine art nude, and very little that would qualify as standard sex magazine content. Many of the photographers here also have websites, so even if readers only used the book as a guide to what to seek on the internet, it would be well worth the price. "Venus" is an amazing and delicious survey.

Customer Review: from San Francisco, CA USA This book is titled Asian Women and features "oriental" or Southeastern Asian women rather than Indian and every other variation of the continent. I don't see that as anything to complain about. With Black Women, the author/photographer Ommer captured women of many skin tones and features, but did not shoot every type of black woman -- there were few light-skinned women, and none from the U.S. or Europe judging by their surrounding motifs -- yet that book was adored by reviewers who disliked this one. I thought both were very good, but prefer Asian Women simply because I like these photos more for various reasons.

Customer Review: from Biloxi, Mississippi Any one who describes this book as "Just another example of a old man taking pictures of young men" has very probably never seen the book, which includes such diverse photographers as German Leni Reiffenstal and American Robert Mapplethorpe, and which occasionally extends its scope to include photographs of male and female nudes. The photographs range from great art to the trivial effort and from haunting beauty to the occasional effort to shock-- the latter of which focuses, ironically, less on nudity than on activity. While I recommend the book, I must note that the accompanying text is fairly insignificant and the images selected from 1950-1990 are considerably less interesting than those of 1900-1950. I must also note that this is NOT an "outsize" or "coffee table size" book; rather, it is a very thick but otherwise standard-size book; this, however, does not really detract from the content.

Customer Review: R. Wilson from Los Angeles, Ca I am quite pleased with the wide range of photographic styles represented here. Although I found there to be a bit too much of the overdone and hence worn out "typical" homoerotic imagery, there were some stand out images by the likes of LAWRENCE GRECCO, NICK KNIGHT and TERRY RICHARDSON. Those three were among the most innovative and interesting artists included in this anthology. Definitely worth buying.

Customer Review: Dr. Buddy Lee from Victoria, Texas USA I just received Bill Lemon's newest book on Nude and Beauty Photography and I will have to say I am impressed with it! Bill knows how to get the best out of a model and show her asets in a way that is very flattering and classic. And then he is able to reduce the process and art to a very easily understood format. It was about four years ago that I took one of Bill's courses on glamour photography and it was one of the highlights of my career in photography as a serious amatuer. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of his courses, jump at the chance. You will not be disappointed. And if you are unable to do that then I would recommend that you buy this book today. It will give you an idea of his work and it will help you in achieving your goals. And certainly the price is very reasonable for the content!
